Marshfield Clinic became a participating provider in The Alliance’s network Monday.

CEO Cheryl DeMars said they also plan to expand their QualityPath Initiative to include high tech imagery in January, specifically CT and MRI screening tests.

“Each year, one in 11 Alliance members has one of these tests, making it one of the biggest areas of spend for employers,” DeMars said at The Alliance’s annual seminar in Madison. “And as we’ve seen, the cost varies and there are opportunities to improve quality as well.”

The difference between the lowest and highest cost for an MRI of the lower leg in the network is $2,600, DeMars said. The initiative will use standards developed by radiologists so that patients only receive the exams they need, she said.
