In July, we shared the good news that we have been named a “regional partner” by Consumer Reports. We earned this designation through our track record of providing information to help consumers make decisions about health care.

Consumer Reports has long been recognized as an independent and authoritative resource to help consumers compare the value of important purchases. Arguably, no purchase may be as important as which hospitals, doctors and treatment options to use. To have this brand and expertise applied to health care was a welcome reinforcement of our long-standing goal of value-based purchasing.

Through the Choosing Wisely campaign, Consumer Reports has raised awareness that more care isn’t better care. And through the Best Buy Drugs campaign, they have shone a light on unsubstantiated and irrational cost variation. We are proud to be their partner and to promote their work.

Last week, The Alliance unveiled our new Find a Doctor website and service. Through this investment in technology and infrastructure, consumers will have another resource to help them navigate the health care system. Those of you who attended our July Learning Circle got a sneak preview. We’re eager to share this next generation resource with the rest of you.
